# About mortalpings

**mortalpings** is a hyperlocal messaging platform designed to connect people instantly within their surroundings. 
Unlike traditional messaging apps, mortalpings is built around the idea of **time-bound** and **location-based** communication.

With mortalpings, your messages:

• 🕒 **Live for a limited time** — Messages automatically vanish after a set duration (1–24 hours). 
• 📍 **Stay within your area** — Only people within your chosen radius (500m → 10km) can see your post. 
• 📸 **Show the reality** — Attach **Photos** or **Audio Notes** to give immediate context to your pings. 
• 🙈 **Remain anonymous BUT accountable** — Each device / app install is assigned a stable UID. You also have a human-friendly displayId (e.g., MP-12345) that appears in the app. The UID lets us link actions for moderation (ban or mute) but does not reveal any personal identity information. 
• 📶 **Work even during patchy connectivity** — If you’re offline, your message (and attachments) are saved locally and auto-sent once the network returns.

## Organized Conversations

Your pings are organized for clarity:

- 💬 **Queries** – Questions or announcements.
- 🗨️ **Regular Pings** – General updates or thoughts.
- 🔁 **Replies** – Responses to a ping, equally time-bound & limited-by-radius.
- 🛍️ **Market** – Vendor or service listings visible under the Market tab (replies are disabled).

All formats now support **Images and Audio**, so you can show a product in the Market or speak your reply to a Query.

## Rich Attachments: Photos & Audio 📸🎙️

Sometimes text isn't enough. mortalpings now lets you capture the moment fully:

- **Photos:** Snap a picture using the camera or pick one from your gallery. Ideal for "Found Object" posts, traffic updates, or local events.
- **Audio Notes:** Record your voice directly. Perfect for quick explanations or when typing is inconvenient.

*Note: Just like text, all attachments are ephemeral. They disappear from the feed once the time limit expires.*

## Voice Input (Text) vs. Audio Notes 🗣️

mortalpings gives you two ways to use your voice:

1.  **Voice Input (Text):** Speak, and the app converts it to **Text**. Useful for hands-free typing.
2.  **Audio Notes (Sound):** Record, and the app sends the **Actual Audio**. Useful for conveying emotion, sound, or urgent tone.

## Offline & Auto-Sync ✨

When you’re offline:
- A **banner** clearly indicates “No Network.”
- Your text and attachments are **queued locally** and uploaded automatically once online.
- You never lose your place — everything syncs seamlessly.
